Academics

Emmanuel Academy of the Deaf is a private Christian school that offers a quality education for the deaf and partially hearing in Puerto Rico. All aspects of the program focus on establishing effective communica-tion.  Emphasis on high quality individualized and  trilingual education (Sign Language, Spanish,  and English) with a Christian foundation will equip the students to reach their maximum God given potential.

             family INTERVENTION SERVICES

One of the foundations of the program is Family Intervention Services. A teacher meets with each family weekly and provides information about services and implements activities for the whole family that focus on meeting milestones in all areas of the student’s development.  Family Intervention Services provide support for families to acquire better communication skills, which contribute to improved family relationships.

             PRESCHOOL, ELEMENTARY, AND SECONDARY CLASSES

Emmanuel Academy of the Deaf is licensed by the Council of Education and is registered with the Department of State of Puerto Rico for classes from preschool through 12th grade. An Individualized Education Plan is written for each student each year. All classes are taught in sign language, and the curriculum is bilingual - Spanish and English. Courses include Bible, Spanish, English, Math, Science, Social Studies and Physical Education.

              ADULT EDUCATION

We recognize that the need for education for deaf students in Puerto Rico goes beyond the age of childhood and youth. Learning opportunities are also offered for adults in basic reading and math skills.

            Location

Classes are located at the facilities of Iglesia Biblica Emanuel in Santa Isabel on the corner of Carretera #1 and Calle Libertad in Barrio Playita Cortada.
